ReflexologyReflexolgoy by "A Foot Above"

Reflexology is a technique in which pressure is applied to specific points on the feet (and sometimes the hands) to promote relaxation and improve overall health.

Reflexology works on the principle that there are areas on the hands and feet that correspond to the glands, organs and structures of the entire body. During a Reflexology treatment the therapist will apply various pressure techniques on these "reflex" points to effectively treat the entire body. Contrary to popular belief, this should never hurt or tickle but is a pleasant and soothing sensation.

In our everyday lives, stress and tension can cause energy blockages and lower the body’s resistance to illness. Reflexology aims to strengthen and balance the energy flow by freeing up these blockages in order to help the body return to its normal state of health.

Reflexology is a gentle, non-invasive treatment that helps the body returns to its preferred state of equilibrium - also known as homeostasis. This can often lead to profound improvements in various conditions.  However, Reflexology should not be seen as a miracle cure and indeed professional Reflexologists will never claim to diagnose or cure a condition.

What happens in a session?

On the first visit, the reflexology practitioner will have a preliminary talk with you to determine your present and past health and lifestyle.

The Reflexologist will then use their hands to apply pressure to the feet. The application and the effect of the therapy are unique to each person.

Each session lasts around 1 hour.
