“A Foot Above” steps ahead with National award Ilkeston Chiropody clinic A Foot Above has won national accreditation and recognition from The Society of Chiropodists & Podiatrists for its practice standards and patient focus. The Private Practice Accreditation Scheme, run by The Society, under which the Bath Street based clinic received their award looks at the standards of five key areas of a Chiropody practice: Safety, Clinical Effectiveness, Governance, Patient Focus and the Care Environment. Stephen Gardiner MChS, the HPC registered Chiropodist at A Foot Above, who received the award explains: “The Society were looking for the adherence to standards and guidelines which maintain a safe and lawful practice that is fit for purpose in today’s health economy. They ensure we satisfy the HPC’s (Health Professions Council) Standards of Proficiency, Conduct, Performance and Ethics. Registration and compliance with which are essential to using the title of Chiropodist. We are proud to be one of the first Chiropody private practices within the UK to receive this nationally recognised, accreditation award - and within our first year of trading too. It is recognition that A Foot Above is able to provide the very best standards of service to our customers from Ilkeston and it’s surrounding areas” he said. A Foot Above was officially opened by the Mayor of Erewash in May 2006 and now sees a growing diary of regular customers with all types of foot ailments – from in growing toenails, corns, verrucas and hard skin to those requiring biomechanical assessments for corrective, tailored shoe inserts to rectify problems with posture and back-ache.
